Music for weddings

The RSCM has launched a new web page to help plan music for a church wedding. Covering choices of music, copyright, fees and much more, the resources are suitable for couples planning their special day as well as those who advise them.

Fees for church musicians

Fees for church musicians have been debated in the press recently. Following a misquote in a national newspaper, the RSCM reassures its supporters that we continue to be a strong advocate for church musicians, recommending that they be appropriately remunerated for their important work.

  • Please visit our website for a statement about the RSCM's recommended fees.
  • The 2011 fees recommendations (available to Individual and Affiliate members only) will be published at the beginning of October.
  • There is still time to take part in a survey of organists' fees set up by the Incorporated Society of Musicians – the password is Organists2010 and the deadline is 11 October.

Masterclasses with leading composers

RSCM Image

Some of Britain's best-known composers will give masterclasses at the Royal College of Music in October and November, focusing on contemporary music in worship. Gabriel Jackson, Roxanna Panufnik and Tarik O'Regan will discuss their music at the workshops which are run in conjunction with the King James Bible Composition Awards.

Challenge appeal update

Mark Williams's generous £25,000 pound-for-pound challenge appeal stands at an amazing £17,000. There is still time to help us reach the goal – the closing date is 1 November. We are grateful for donations of any size as we seek to encourage and enable the best use of music in worship.
